ACEC Direct Animal Care

Interested in working
with our animals?

All Luna’s House Adoption Programs are run by volunteers. From training and scheduling to hands-on work with our rescue animals, our volunteers do it all!

PLEASE NOTE: Our Dog Adoption Program, Cat Adoption Program, Small Animal Adoption Program, and Rabbit Adoption Program are currently at capacity with volunteers.

We have compiled a significant Volunteer Waiting List for those interested in volunteering with Dogs, Cats, Small Animals, or Rabbits. As availability opens within an Adoption Program, those on the Volunteer Waiting List will be contacted regarding setting up training to work with their preferred animal group.

We are currently NOT adding to our Volunteer Waiting List, but please stay tuned. We will announce when we open our Volunteer Waiting List once again.

When there is availability, You can sign up to assist us with the daily care, cleaning, feeding, and socialization of Luna’s House rescue animals at the Animal Care and Education Center (ACEC). For safety reasons, individuals must be 10 years of age or older to volunteer with Cats, Small Animals, or Rabbits. Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older to volunteer with our rescue Dogs.

Anyone under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times when volunteering for Luna’s House.

We must correspond with individuals 18+ years of age regarding volunteering for Luna’s House. We will not respond to messages from minors.

See below for more information on volunteering at the ACEC, including Volunteer Application forms.

Fill out our Volunteer Application

Click this link to download our Volunteer Application Form.

Please download, print, and complete the Volunteer Application once you have been contacted to schedule your volunteer training. We will ask that you bring your completed application to your first training session. Any individual volunteering hands-on with our rescue animals must have a completed Volunteer Application and Waiver of Liability on file with our organization.

A completed Volunteer Application is required for each individual who will be volunteering for Luna’s House.

For more information on volunteering your time, please contact volunteer@lunashouse.org.

Requirements

Please note that, for safety reasons, individuals must be 10 years of age or older to volunteer with Cats, Small Animals, or Rabbits. Volunteers must be 14 yearsf age or older to volunteer with our rescue Dogs.

Any volunteers under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times when volunteering for Luna’s House.

We appreciate your understanding about this policy.

PLEASE NOTE: Luna’s House offers volunteering opportunities for individuals ages 10-17 years, as “assistant” volunteers. For safety, liability, and logistical reasons, adults are always the primary volunteer, and children can help with some duties.

Mentorship/SAE Projects:

At this time, we are not able to offer any mentorship opportunities, as all of our adoption programs are 100% volunteer-based. Our volunteers cannot commit the amount of time and effort such a project would entail.

Group Volunteer Projects:

We can often plan volunteer opportunities for volunteer groups, dependent upon the size of the group, ages, and time constraints. We require a full Application/Orientation/Training process for volunteers working hands-on with the animals. However, if a volunteer group is willing to come out for a different volunteer activity, we can get each team member to complete a one-page Waiver of Liability. Examples of group projects would be grounds beautification, general facility and/or site maintenance, and cleaning. You can also let us know if you have an idea for a different project.

In-Kind Donation Drives:

If you are looking to satisfy a service-hour requirement for school or another program, you can organize and execute an in-kind donation drive for items from our Wish List for the animals. In-Kind Donation drives are very helpful to Luna’s House and the animals we serve! Between the organization and execution of the donation drive, plus the delivery of the donations, they typically satisfy many program time requirements.
